Sustainability
One of Friosur’s main operational goals is to develop selective fishing, maximizing the capture of the target species while minimizing the catch of smaller fish, as a way to promote the sustainability of the region’s marine resources.
This concept of selectivity goes hand in hand with the search for better profitability in the fishing business and is an essential complement for projecting our company’s future activities.
Safety and quality
We are continuously working to build our food safety culture, which is a cross-cutting goal for the company, from the initial capture actions by our fleet to the delivery of our finished products to customers in diverse markets around the world and in Chile.
Our operations in product processing plants follow a Quality Assurance Program (QAP) based on the Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP) system. This is a prevention-focused tool that allows us to identify specific hazards and implement control measures to ensure food safety. These measures have enabled us to export our products to the European Union and demanding markets in the Asian region.
Friosur holds two important certifications that attest to the sustainable management of resources and the food safety of our products.
(Marine Stewardship Council) For the chain of custody of the Southern Hake fishery. This certification ensures that the sustainable fishing we process at our plants is not mixed with any other fish that does not have this certification. In this way, it also safeguards the respect for catch volumes, combats indiscriminate fishing, and ensures traceability.
One of the most reputable safety standards worldwide. It proposes quality and food safety protocols with two main purposes: to ensure supplier compliance and provide retailers with a tool to guarantee both the safety and quality of the products they market.
